Description

Porto Puddu is a very large cove situated in the area of Isola dei Gabbiani (Island of Seagulls), at the mouth of the Liscia river. Raising in northern Sardinia, it is characterized by bright colours and intense natural scents also thanks its sea bottoms, particularly rich of lentiscus and rock rose.

The bay is highly famous for its sandy beach and some rocky coves sheltered by small bays which offer amazing unforgettable landscapes to visit. Waters are clear and with a wonderful torquoise colour, as typical in this area of the Mediterranean.

Boaters sailing from Palau to Santa Teresa di Gallura usually prefer to stop at Porto Poddu, located halfway between the two locations. The anchorage is also known as Porto Pollo and it is highly appreciated and loved by locals for its beauty and surrounding environment that offers many excursion opportunities.

Furthermore, the zone is known for being exposed to winds, which attract many sailing boats and windsurfers. Of course, both the beach and the whole coastline are very crowded and well-equipped. Services included a camping site, a parking, several coffee bars, restaurants and hotels.

Around the beach, the seabed is particularly low, which results in a great advantage for families with children but in a potential danger for boats approaching to the coast. Boaters are therefore adviced to keep a certain distance from the area reserved for bathing activities.

Porto Poddu represents the umpteen cove resulting from the wonderful rock formations of the Sardinian coastline. Significantly charming and caressed by gentle winds, it is an ideal place where recreational boats can stop.
