Bay (cala) Mondragó 

The Cala Mondragò (also known as Cala de Sa Font en d'Alis) is located in the central part of the southern coast of the island of Majorca.

 Internally it is divided into two smaller coves, separated by a rocky isthmus: s'Amarador and Sa Font en d'Alis.

The best spot to anchor in this bay is in the middle of the two coves. Here the depths are about six feet deep and the sandy composition makes it a good tenant. The whole bay is exposed to the winds coming from the south and southwest.

Although not far from the city center, Cala Mondragò is set in a quiet location surrounded by pine forests.

The two beaches that lie within its creeks have both fine and clear sand and crystal clear waters that lap the shores.

The beach of Sa Font d'en Alis is surrounded by Mediterranean vegetation and has little slope.

Behind the beach there is a marshy area (generated by the presence of a stream that flows right into the bay) rich in typical fauna such as eels and snakes of water.

The area is also accessible to people with motor disabilities and once on-site, the costumers may rent beach equipment such as sun loungers and umbrellas.

The presence of many types of services, the easiness of access and its natural beauty make this beach a much-acclaimed place in the summer.

Those arriving in this bay from the mainland will be able to arrive either by public transport departing from nearby Cala d'Or, or with their car, leaving it in one of the free car parks adjacent to Sa Font en d'Alis.

The area of Cala Mondragò is part of a Nature Reserve and was declared by the European Union, area of special fauna interest in the '90s.

Cala Mondragò is also the ideal starting point to reach the various places of the Natural Reserve.

The bay is located at about 5 kilometers from s'Alqueria Blanca and is part of the Santanyi district.
