Description

St. Lucia Port is a small picturesque marina situated in a very central zone of Naples.

It composed by a long rectangular dock protected, on its eastern side, by a long cliff. The strucutre is equipped with some private floating piers managed by different nautical cooperatives.

The port is accessible at any time and offers 200 berths for boats up to 26 m and with a maximum draught of 8 m.

The marina offers a plurality of services, such as: drinkable water and patrol columns, toilets, showers, Wi-Fi, electric charging columns (220 V), a travelit with a maximum range of 10 tons, a winter garaging area and technical staff for eventual electric and nechanic repairs.

The sea bottom is a mixture of mud and sand and the main hardships in the port are represented by sirocco, libeccio and east-winds.

While entering the marina, yachtsmen have to pay particular attention to two large areas (of 60,000 and 30,000 square metres respectively) used for mussel farming: in these areas, sailing, staying at anchor and any other activity are not allowed.

North of the port, the safest anchorages are those of Baia and Pozzuoli.

The port hosts several regattas during the year.

The structure raises in the so-called "Borgo Marinari" and is part of Megarite, an islet linked to the mainland through a narrow artificial isthmus and overlooked by Castel dell'Ovo, an impressive Roman fortress.

In addition to the castle, the traveller which docks at St. Lucia Port can also enjoy a breath-taking sight on Vesuvius, Mergellina, Vomero and Posilippo.

Borgo Marinari still preserves its original atmosphere while offering a wide range of coffee bars, restaurants and shops, all plunged in a context which becomes even more charming at sunset.

By crossing the artificial isthmus, you can reach the neighborhood of St. Lucia, a very attractive tourist destination which ideally extends from Castel dell'Ovo to the popular Plebiscito Square.

Lots of hotels, pizzerias, supermakets, pubs and shops, together with a great number of bus stops, surround the port.

The centre of Naples and the Municipal Villa are easily reachable by foot, bus or tram.

The popular shopping promenades (Via dei Mille, Via Chiaia) are just few minutes away, together with the Real Palace, a beautiful example of 17th-century architecture.

In summer, the beach resorts of Via Posillipo offers the possibility to rent sunbeds and beach umbrella along some wonderful beaches, characterized by a rocky sea bottom crystal-blue waters.

St. Lucia Port is the ideal solution for anyone seeking for a picturesque small landing port in the city centre.
