Description

Ports in the Marche region within the Gulf of Ancona

Since the 16th century BC, the Gulf of Ancona had been representing a good shelter for sailors and a stratetic point for the commercial exchanges with Grecia, Dalmatia and Istria.

Today, the port is one among the most important harbours in the Mediterranean and the starting point for the numerous container ships, ferries and cruise ships sailing to Croatia, Aegean coasts, Albania and Greece.

The port area includes many quays, some of which are reserved for the Navy, and is protected by two large docks.

Recreational boats can use the tourist port of Marina Dorica, on the South.
