Description

Situated in the Bay of Porto Conte, east of Capo Caccia, the Marina di Porto Conte raises in the south-eastern part of the bay of Torre del Conte. The marina includes a quay, a long inner breakwater and some floating jetties.

With a 6x2 km extension, it is considered one among the largest natural ports in the Mediterranean Sea.

It offers 300 berths, 10 of which are specifically reserved for transiting boats. Because of low sea bottoms, it is highly recommended to sail in the entrance channel. The marina offers a filling station, water and electric charging columns, a 30-ton crane, hull and engine repairs and boat storage areas. Near the port, there are also a hotel and a grocery shop.

The port is situated east of Porto Conte, at the top of which raises a beautiful lighthouse and a large white hotel. The entrance of the port is signaled by a green lantern and a red one. The marina is well-sheltered from all winds. However, strong north-west winds can provoke undertow in the basin. In this case, yachtsmen can find a good shelter in the northern part of the bay, where sea bottoms are low but regular and safe.

Enclosed between Capo Caccia and Punta del Giglio, the bay of Porto Conte is subject to environmental restrictions since it is part of the Porto Conte Regional Natural Park and of the Capo Caccia- Isola Piana Marine Park. The bay offers many well-sheltered coves and beaches.

More specifically, Mugoni Beach is characterized by white sand and wonderful green waters. Surrounded by a rich pine forest, the beach is long, picturesque and equipped with some bars and restaurants.

The Marina di Porto Conte is a good starting point for a beautiful excursion to Neptune's Grotto at the foot of Capo Caccia.
