Description

Port de Soller is a landing place in the northwestern part of the Majorca coast, in the archipelago of the Balearic Islands.

It is a natural harbor, located in the hinterland of the Sierra de Tramontana (whose capital is Calvià), which extends along the northern coast of the island.

The landing is located about three kilometers from the center of Soller and can accommodate up to 465 boats, which should have a length not exceeding 15 meters and a draft not exceeding 3 meters. The harbor supplies potable water and electricity to the quay. In addition, there is a workshop area for boat maintenance and repairs, with a crane that can lift up to a total weight of 12 tons. There is also a docking station, an access ramp, and a system for collection of gray water.

Other moorings in the port area are managed by the nautical club Tramontana Marine Club, which houses about 64 berths for boats ranging in length from 12 to 40 meters. During peak season there is the possibility - on request - to moor longer boats, up to 60 meters.

This nautical club offers water and electricity on the dock, 24H open port authorities, boat maintenance and cleaning services, changing rooms with showers and toilets, Wi-Fi internet access. A post office and a laundry service. In addition, the area includes a fuel station (open from 9am to 13pm and from 16am to 7pm) and a bar, open only during high season, at evening hours.

By land, the Port de Soller area can be reached by car (leaving the car in one of the car parks) and by public transport via the tram line.

In the immediate vicinity of the port area, you can easily find hotels, restaurants, bars, supermarkets, banks and businesses activities. Moreover, in the surroundings you can find agencies that organize tours along the paths of the Sierra Tramuntana, or rent bikes and Segways.

In the immediate vicinity of the docking there is also the beach of Port de Soller, about 800 meters long, made of gravel and sand and with normally quiet waters.

It is a municipal management beach, located next to the harbor and easily accessible from the city center and available also to people with motor disabilities. The beach offers public showers, a lifeguard and the possibility of renting nautical equipment, or sun loungers and parasols.  All this makes it a popular destination by both tourists and locals.

Not far from Port de Soller lies Platja d'en Repic, located on Soller's waterfront. It is a beach about 200 meters long and 20 meters wide, always composed of sand and gravel and with calm waters. The central location to the city, easy access and the good size make it a beach quite appreciated by locals and strangers. As on the beach of the harbor, here you can rent nautical equipment, find bathrooms, showers, and a rescue service. The presence of access ramps makes it possible to frequent the beach even for people with motor disabilities.

Port de Soller is about 30 kilometers from Palma de Mallorca. The Sea Museum (located in the ancient oratorio of Santa Catarina dating back to the 12th century) and the Torre Picada - built during the XVI centuries to defend the area from pirate invasions and corsairs - are located around the port area.

In 2011, Sierra de Tramontana was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site for its naturist importance. The highest of the Sierra peak is Mount Puig Major, 1436 meters in height.
